HOKITIKA CADETS

Despite the inclement weather conditions, there was a very good attendance at the Drill Hall last night for the last parade of the drill year. As previously arranged, there was no drill, instead of which a boxing tournament took place, full one half of the company taking part. Some very good bbuts took place, the decision of the referee (Sergt. Breeze) being in all cases well received. With perhaps one exception, every contest was very close each win being heartily applauded, j The rounds were of two minutes, two | rounds being doomed sufficient, with one minute interval in which to regain breath. The results were as follows— Benton beat Bidland, Neston beat Huxford, Herring beat lie id (a very close contest), Davidson beat Chisholm. Simpson boat Dowling, Bell bent Keen, Heinz and Kelly, a draw, Heenan beat Schroder, Lincoln boat Richards, Connor and Thompson, draw, (this was one of the best contests in the light weights) j Pcrham beat Park, Stopforth beat Chisholm, Keller beat Haines. Heinz beat Bell (another good exhibi-

tion in t'lio light weights); Lewis bent Henderson. Ho finals or semi-finals were 1 ought. It is understood that ropes, good gloves, etc., will be procured in time for the next contest, when an even better entertainment will result. A tentative suggestion -is on foot to arrange a contest with the pick of the nearer cadet companies, hut nothing definite has yet been decided on.
