A Fashion Thousands Of Yeaiss Odd. The fashion for earrings has become more pronounced than ever of late years. But it is merely the revival of an Oriental custom which, women of all civilised countries have adopted ai d then discarded according to the passing fancy of Dame Fashion. It used to he regarded as a “barbarous” practice for women to have their ears pierced for the use of earrings, but nowadays this “debasement,” as it was termed by a former generation of critics and faddists, is no longer necessary. Tho skill of the goldsmith has overcome any scruples women may have on this score, for «arrings can now be secured by almost invisible adjustments which are quite comfortable.
