ADDINCTON STOCK SALES. RISE IN SHEEP. (By Telegraph.—Special to Guardian.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Afcssrs H. Matson and Co. report as follows regarding their stock sale at Addington yards yesterday:— Store Sheep.—A similar sized yarding to Inst week, with a few exceptions was mostly made no of remnants and left overs. Any- good conditioned I young ewes or decent hoggets were firmer, but wethers generally were neglected and decidedly busier. Any backward ewes or rigged lambs were also hard to sell. Considering the I quality generally put forward tho sale must be considered a good one and for the time of the year, the entry was a very large one. It is marvellous where all the stock comes from, but still more marvellous where it is absorbed. Canterbury certainly is the dumping ground of New Zealand. Rest two-tooth Romney ewes to 33s' Gd, good S..AI. 2.1 s fid to • 26s lid, lower conditioned and indifferent mouths 13s to 2], best forward wethers to 275, medium 20s to 23s 3d, goed two-tooths 20s fid to 23s fid, best forward lambs 21s fid to 23s 3d, medium 17s to 20s fid. others to 13s. best. 345. bred ewe lambs 23s fid to 27s fid, others to 20s fid. Store Cattle.—-A large yarding and included several pens of station steers and also a fair number of young cows. The market was very keen especially for good forward steers but on other sorts there was no quotable alteration. Four year steer £9 to £lO 2s fid, three year £7 10s to £8 15s, two and three year ditto £6 15s to £7 12s fid, yearlings £1 15s to £2 10s fid. Good young cows 35s to £3 os; others to 255. Beef.—An extra heavy yarding, over 600 head, with some very nice lines of station cattle yarded, and any prime steers or heifers were firm and sold
well throughout, but the largest portion of flic market comprised old and backward cows and unfinished steers
which wore easier and hard to sell. Prime steers £ls 5s to 1-19. extra to £2O 2s fid, medium £ll‘ 15s to £ls,
lights £9 10s to £l] 10s, others to £7 10s; prime heifers £8 15s 5d to £lO 10s. extra to £l2 7s fid, medium £6 15s to £8 10s, lighter to £5 as. Prime cows £8 10s to £ll 15s. medium £6
5s to £8 ss, others to £3 15s. Fat Pigs.—A small entry of forward and the demand was only moderate, prices being slightly easier than last week. A r alues were :—Choppers £5 6s to. Cfi 7s, light baeoners £4 .to £4 15s, heavy £5 to £o 15s, extra heavy £6 to £6 10s fid ; average price 8d to B,ld. Light porkers 50s to 555, heavy 60s to 03s, extra heavy to 70s; average price Bpi to 9d.
Forward Store Pigs.—A medium entry ail selling at late rates. A’alues— AVoniiers !0s to 15s; best up to 18s. slisp 18s to 245, small stores 25s to 325.
medium 3os to 40s, largo up to 445. -Mutton.—A smaller yarding and a larger proportion of wethers than lately. The quality all round was much above the average. The market opened firmer and continued so throughout i and closed Is to Is fid above the opening rate, especially ewes. The average ' rise throughout was Is fid to 2s fid on' last week. Prime wethers 32s to 3os fid, extra, to 40s 10d. medium 20s to 31s fid. lighter to 275; prime ewes 24s to 27s Od, extra to 31s Id. medium 20s to 23s fid, lighter and aged to 14s 3d. Lambs.—A small yarding and the quality is falling~sff, but an exceptionally good sale and well over schedule rates. :
