The attempt of Miss Violet Corderv, the English motorist, to beat the world’s record by covering on the Monza track 24,000 ndies without stopping came abruptly to an end early this morning. Air Ward, one of the four drivers who were taking turns with Miss Cordery at the wheel, fell asleep, and the car left the track. Air AVard was thrown out, but was not badly injured. The record attempt was abandoned after the car had covered 5,-538 miles at an average speed of 5G miles an hour.
