Harry Daugherty. Hie AttorneyGeneral in the Harding Cabinet, indicted by the Grand Jury with Thomas Miller, war-time alien property custodian, on a charge of conspiracy to defraud the Government. The Federal Authorities allege that upon payment of a commission of eighty thousand sterling, they conspired to return to former German and Swiss owners, seven million dollars worth of stock, which was seized as alien property during the war. The money alleged was paid to a confidant of Daugherty. Ne.sse Smith, who committed suicide several years ago. It is understood the prosecution was instituted upon the confession of Richard Merton, a banker, resident of Germany.
