His counsel told the -Magistrate that the accused had decided to conduct his own defence. Saklatvala admitted the fairness and accuracy of the police report of his speech and said his trial was intended lor the public good. He did not regard it as a personal prosecution, hut considered in view of the present outlook lie should not he bound over any more than tho Premier, for the Premier’s speech was against a section of the community. The Magistrate declared no responsible man could doubt Saklatvala’s speech was most I seditious.
