CHARITY TRAIN WRECK. NEW YORK, March 16. According to the latest reports from Costa Rica. Central America, 248 persons were killed and 93 injured in the wreck of an excursion train near San Jose yesterday. One of the coaches fell into the Varilla River from the bridge over the stream, while two others hung from the top of the 190 ft. precipice. The train was carrying 1,000 passengers on an excursion organised among farmers and labourers to raise funds for a home for the aged at Cartago.
