One hundred of tlie world’s leading golf professionals are participating in the “Standards” Thousand Pound Sterling Tournament at Moor Park, Watford, on the 11th and 12th of June, when the scoring will be under a novel system of points on target principle. The greens will be marked out in three white circles, with a radius of ten feet, another of fifteen feet, and an outside edge, these to be called the “ inner.” “ middle ” and the outer.” Tito points will he awarded according to the importance of the shots, the value decreasing according to the number of shots taken, and tho winner being the highest scorer for thirty-six holes. The “ Standard’s” critic explains that the new system is designed to emphasise the most important golf shot, which is the shot to the pin, namely, the tee shot, at one shot holes, the second at par-fours and the third at par-fives.
