[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.] FRENCH FINANCE. LONDON* April 21. Tlio “Daily Express” Paris correspondent says: “Despite M. Peret, the French Finance Minister’s optimistic speech, declaring that the end ot the financial crisis was in sight, the franc has reached 147 to the pound sterling in a feverish market. There is a feeling akin to panic. The 'immediate future 'is regarded with terror in Paris. Almost everyone is rushing to tho banks to buy sterling and dollars. Today’s queues of intending buyers were not composed of traders needing foreign currency, for commercial purposes, but ot the m:\n-in-thc-stroct, desiring to convert his savings into foreign currency. French financial circles believe that the constant downward pressure is being exerted from New York. It is believed that the American bankers have decided to force the collapse of the franc, in order, later on, to buy up large holdings in French industries just as they have done in Germany. FRENCH BUDGET. [Reuter Telegrams.] (Received this day at 8 a.mA PAIUS, April 20. The French Senate has voted the Budget as a whole by 278 votes to 12.
