Asociation considered a proposal from Christchurch that the Koval Show be held at Auckland during the third week in November, so as not to interfere with the Canterbury Show. It was decided that Mr Massey should attend a meeting of the Council at Wellington on Thursday, and advocate that the dates as first suggested hy Auckland, he Nov. 11. 12,. and 13. ALL BLACK HURT. CHRISTCHURCH, April 19. Brian McCleary, the All Black and professional boxer, was injured on Saturady when playing in the first competition football game since his return fVom England. He received a had cut on the head, necessitating eight stitches. He also injured his foot, the t indications being that he broke a small | bone. i BRITISH DEBATING TEAM. WELLINGTON. April IS. There was a large crowd at the Town Hall for the second debate in which flic British team of ’varsity debaters took part. The debaters for the affirmative were : Messrs T. P. M’Donald (Fduibuigh), May Cooley (Victoria College), Paul Reid (King’s College. London i, and Steele (Victoria College, and for the negative, Messrs W. P. Rollings (Victoria College). R. The debaters from England provided much entertainment with their polished manner of debate and spontaneous wit, while the representatives of I ictoiia College acquitted themselves in a highly creditable manner. To-morrow the Marlborough “Express ” celebrates its sixtieth birthday, with an issue of 24 pages replete with historical facts about old Marlborough. The issue is also profusely illustrated with photographs of the early years of the Province. Not the least interesting feature is the front page, symbolising the progress of the district and presenting a vivid story without words of Marlborough, the golden. Congratulatory messages received from the'lendmg public men of the Dominion and prominent newspaper men are featured. EDEN OFFICIAL FIGURES. AUCKLAND. April 29. . The official count of the Eden election reduces Mason’s majority by eleven. The following are now the official figures: — Mr Mason 4580 Sir J. Gunson 4159 Miss Melville 2193 Majority for Mason 430 The figures which include most of the absentee votes give Mason 116 more votes, Gunson an increase of 127, and .Miss Melville decrease of 57.
