CONCERT AND BALL AT KANIERI.
The concert and ball held at Kanieri on Monday evening last in aid of the funds of St. Andrew’s Church, Kanieri, proved to be one of the most successful turn-outs for years. The hall was packed to tho doors, many people being unable to ohtam seats. The concert was a most enjoyable one and every item was well lecc. cd .Mr F. W. Selby presi!-d as Chairman. The first part consist.'. l nt vocal and instrumental items by the folio"'j]i<r ladies and geutlem'n : jxoiinro, Goodfcllmv’s Orchestra; song Mn-s Wylie; song, Alisa. Staple 1 , m ; .immtmentail duet (violin and piano) M’s-> Knowles and Hurley; song. Miss Sheriff ; duet (comic) Messrs S. Brooks and T. Boyd; clog-dance, Mr Fakir., song, Mrs Patterson; song, Mrs Mottram. The. second part consisted of musical and vocal items by the Kanieri Minstrel Troupe, which consisted of about 20 or so Indies and gentlemen, who gave a splendid programme, which met with hearty applause. Messrs S. Brookes as “Bones” and G. Shaw as “Tambo” kept the audience in good humour with their jokes and pranks. Space will not permit of a full account of all the performers, but suffice to say that all acquitted themselves wcM. At the conclusion of the concert the liev. Perkins returned thanks to all those who had assisted to make H concert a success.
The ball, which followed, was largely attended, music being supplied 1 1 Goodfcllow’s Orchestra. Messrs I. Boyd and Ogilvic acted as M.O.’s. In connection with the concert and hall a word of praise is due to Mi Delia I-oannont, who organised the entertainment and done so much to help in arranging details. Mr Mansiin. who acted as Interlocutor for the Minstrels deserves credit for his valuable services, also Afiss Wylie "ho acted a accompanist during rehearsals. Alcssr- Syd. Brooks and Geo. Shaw who took a prominent part in working ii]) the show are to lie complimented upon Iheir success.
