an A.B. QUESTIONED. AUCKLAND, March 26. At tlie Karu inquiry Walter Parker, Master of the Oliinemuri, who towed the Kara over the Wliangapc bar, said lie diil not consider the Captain of the Karu took any risk. In witness’ opinion the captain was justified in proceeding to sea. As far as be knew tlor were no wrecks on the bar. Dennis Brown Cochrane, an A.B. on the Kuril, asked what lie did in the vessel’s engine room at Auckland, said lie bail just chipped the boiler and cleaned the engine. Did you put in any new plates ! Witness: No. Counsel : Now. we want to know the truth. What, did you no? Witness; I put in a couple of bolts in the bull because there was a, bit of a leak. I put a. bit of a plate in with a ls,lt on each side.
