In the House of Commons during a debate on the Navy Sstimates, Air Ammon (ex-Alinister) asked why the floating dock at Singapore was being completed before a graving dock, a.s was first intended, and also why the Amiralty were not using the old German dock. Commander Burney asked whether, in view of the coming Imperial Conference, it was not possible for tho Labourites to reach an agreement with the Alinistry on the "Singapore base, so
that the Dominion representatives would realise that even with a change of Government, their defence would he safeguarded. Commander Kenwortliy urged that it was not too late for the Admiralty to reconsider its present policy, and instead to base its Pacific Elect on Sydney, instead of on Singapore. Air \Y. C. Bridgeman (First Lord of "the Admiralty) said that it would he easier to send out a new floating dock in sections than to tow out the old German dock.
