In the House of Commons in answering questions Air Stanley Baldwin, said inquiry had convinced him that there was greatly a preponderating volume of opinion against the broadcasting of the budget. In reply to other questions the Hon L. C. M. S. Amery (Dominions Secretary) stated that 849 families and 950 other persons had accepted the opportunity to migrate to Canada and were awaiting passages. Similarly 9.000 were waiting for Australia and 2,550 for New Zealand. AH- 0. Samuel (Parliamentary Un-der-Secretary for Overseas Trade) stated the. value of exports from the United Kingdom in 1925. in relation to the respective populations, was: Russia lid, Australia 203 s and New Zealand 3355. He added that all other European countries bought more largely than Russia.

In the House of Commons in tho course of tho naval debate Commander Burney urged the Conservative and Labour Parties to agree to a general policy before the Imperial Conference so that the. Dominions would realise that a change of British Government would not affect tho .safeguarding of naval defence. He declared the Labour Government's abandoning of tbc Singapore base simultaneously with inencasing the air vote for the defence of Britain created the impression in the Dominions that the House of Commons was willing to vote money for the defence of England at the expense of weakening the defence of the outer Empire.
