NAPIER WOOL SALE. NAPIER. March 19. The last wool sale opened this morning with a full bench of buyers. Bidding was apathetic in striking contrast to the February sale. The wool was heavy conditioned and rough, but prices were firm on the last Napier sale, and at par with recent sales. Just on 1-5,00(1 bales were allocated for disposal. Bradford and the Continent arc providing only desultory competition.

MASTER CRIMINAL. AUCKLAND, March 18

At the Police Court. I.es Sylvester Hannan. 25, and George Allen, 26, were charged with theft from the Commercial Hotel. Hannan was further charged with wilful damage, by using explosives on Rosenfield and Coy's safe. Allen was described by the Chief Detective as a master criminal, with a bad list. He could handle explosives and was an organiser of crime. Mr Hunt. S.M. sentenced Allen to six months’ imprisonment and two years’ reformatory and Hannan to six months’ and one year reformatory.

The Appeal Court- to-day had before it the appeal of Ahraltam AA'alley Mainlined iSalamau, <> I Auckland, herb specialist, against Dr. Chesson of Auek. land, health ollicor, and .Air Poynton, S.M. The appellant has figured in proceedings to secure the custody of Ids child in which he was successful, and last year had damages awarded against him over the death ot a Maori woman patient. The present case arose out of a conviction Miy the S.M., on three charges of pretending to he a doctor, and in addition there was a mistake in entering up the record book. The appeal against this was dismissed by Judge A 1 pel's, and the defendant now appealed to the Superior Court. The Court dismissed tho ease with costs on tile lowest scale as troni a distance.
