PACIFICISM GONE WILD. EFFECTIVE REPLY TO MR, AMMON. LONDON, March 12. In the House of Commons in tho debate on thjc navy estimates, Air Ammon (Secretary of the Admiralty in the Labour Cabinet) asked for information in regard to the development of the Indian navy fortifications in India. Air Ammon declared that the Government's Singapore policy was calculated to lead to war in.. tho Far East, while it aroused the suspicions of Japan and China.
Commander Bellairs urged that tho questions of future defence should be submitted to the Imperial Conference. lie declared that Australia and New Zealand might as well throw tlio money they spent on defence into tho sea if they could not he assured of the support of the great British fleet in the event of war with Japan. Their ships would simply be a prey for the Japanese navy without tho British Fleet and if they could not rely on the support of tho British navy their eves would turn to America.
