The Government suffered two more reverses in tyhe Legislative Council wlv.'n the Council rejected the Bill providing the absorption of the Municipality of AYaterloo by ihc City Council and a Bill designed to confer adult franchise on persons with three months’ residence in shires and municipalities, and to upn?t last year's shire and municipal elections, and to hold fresh elections this year, the voting being 35 to 31 and 33 to 30 respectively. Both Bills had previously boon rejected by the Council.
