The defeat of Tilden is considered by critics to have partly been due to tiie lapse of his game since he entered on the professional stage of his career. His overthrow was accompanied by Borotra through. Brilliant, decisive net attack, which would have troubled the American star at his best. Tilden said; Borotra was unbeatable to-day. I’ve no excuses to otter. He covered the court with whirlwind speed, and Borotra, as his best, is a great tennis player.”
