WESTLAND A. & P. ASSN.

The committee met on Friday forenoon at the Secretary’s Office, when there was a good attendance. Air J. Dimmiek, President being the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Copies of outward correspondence were road and approved. The secretary reported having in company with Mr Houliston visited TCoiterangi District canvassing for membership and donations where they met with, much success. He further reported having circularised a number of business firms in Christchurch, W r eHington and elsewhere soliciting donations, and in most cases received favourable replies. Botli the Knkntahi Dairy Factory Cov., and the. Westland Cool Storage and Butter Coy., have scut forward cheques, also ihe Hokitika Savings Bank, and the Bank of New South Wales.

Inward correspondence was read and dealt with, much of it being of a formal nature. Messrs Booth MacDonald and Co., farm implement manufacturers. of Christchurch, wrote intimating that they would send along the exhibit of their products, which they are showing at Greymouth. Pleasure was impressed that interest in our show was thus being shown by outside firms, and it was hom’d this would be the forerunner of still" more varied trade exhibits by manufacturers, now that train facilities were available. Such exhibits would help to inform farmers on the Coast of the latest and up-to-date agricultural machinery and no doubt lead to expansion of trade in same.

Replies have been received from the several judges of their acceptance of invitations to act as such, viz. Air J. Fleming. Bnlcairn, Canterbury, of cattle ATr J. Wadsworth Nelson, of horses. Air .Tames Bell. Reefton. of sheep and pigs and Air AY. R. Kettle, Greymouth, of farm produce. Details were advanced in connection with the Show, and the Grounds Committee arranged to meet on the racecourse on Thursday next. It was decided that free luncheon tickets he issued to judges only. The President intimated that he expected to bo able to visit Nelson shortly and if so would act as delegate to the meeting there on 30th. Ararcli for the purpose of recommending a member for appointment to the Board of Agriculture. He was authorised accordingly. It is hoped to secure some whippets from Christchurch, for racing on Show Day. -
