AIR EL.MSI.]Ii’S NEW APPOINTMENT. AY ELLINGTON, Feb. 4. Notification has been received from the Department of Overseas Trade, London, by "oablegram, that U.AI. Trade Commissioner in New Zealand, Air Noel Elmslic. has been appointed to the post of If. Al. Senior Trade Commissioner in South Africa in succession to Air W. G. Wickham, who was for some years Commissioner in New Zealand. and who has now retired on the grounds of ill-health. Air Elmslic left New Zealand for an official visit to the United Kingdom last March, and upon Air AVickham’s resignation, arrangements were made for him to proceed temporarily to Johannesburg, where lie. has been control since November. Air Elmslie’s career includes 12 yearexperience in tlie engineering profession, during which time lie spent four years in Australia. After serving in the Army from Septeinlwr, 1914, to April. 1918, he was selected for duty as Section Director at the Alinistry of .Munitions, lie entered the Department of Overseas Trade in April, 1919, and was Assistant Director in the Empire Division of flint Department until his appointment as Trade Commissioner in New Zealand in February, 1923. A successor to Air Elmslic as I rade Commissioner in New Zealand lias not vet been selected, hut sin appointment will he made as soon as possible.
