OTTAWA, Jan. 27
A wireless message from the German liner “Bremen” received on \\ ednesdav. at Halifax, Nova Scotia, indicated that the British freighter, “Laristoii” has gone to pieces in the North Atlantic, with the loss of 25 members of the crew.
Following on a two-day battle with wind and snow in the North Atlantic, the “Bremen’’ which lias been standing hy since she rescued six men oil Tuesday, has abandoned her search for siiiv survivors.
THE “ANTINOE.” NEW YORK, Jan. 27
Twelve men, in a very weakened condition, were rescued on Wcdiisilny night from the British freighter ‘‘Antilles'” during a lull in the storm, by the liner “Roosevelt.’’
Further attempts will be made at rescue as the weather permits. ’I he Roosevelt- has already lost four lifeboats in her efforts. NEW YORK. Jan. 28.
Air P. H. S. Franklin. President of idle International Mercantile Marine, declares that reports that the White Star liner “Olympic'’ is in distress were nonsense. The vessel left Southampton on Wednesday, and has not had time to dear the English Channel. A report came from Columbus, Indiana, that an “5.0.5.” tall from the Olympic was believed to have been received over the radio there. WASHINGTON, Jan. 2S.
The naval authorities here did not receive any radio distress call from the Olympic.
The Boston steamer “Scythia.” reported early on Thursday 'morning that she had heard no distress calls from the “Olympic,” and the Yalentia Radio Station, in Ireland, has reported that it is without any information
