HUMAN EVOLUTION.
LONDON, January 23. Doctor Adolph Schultz, Associate Lecturer in Anthropology at the John Hopkins Medical School, and who is widely knwn for his researches on tho bodily structure of men as compared with other primates, stated that scientific men sire finding evidence that evolution was still working on the body of man. Evoltuion, lie said, was decreasing the' size of people’s ears. Tt was working towards the complete elimination of the wisdom teeth, having already eliminated two roots thereof. The hones of the little toe were being reduced in number. The eyes in the greater number of persons, he said, were on different levels. The opposite sides of the mouth usually differ in size and the level of the right arc is usually lower than the left. The collarbone is seldom symmetrical and one foot is usually larger than tlic other. Dr Schultz said that his conclusion that the ear is getting smaller was based on an examination of a large number of bodies before birth, and of adult bodies after death, as well as living children and adults. The tendency in the past was for the ear to continue its growth after birth, and to increase in sv'.o in proportion to the body. They now found that the tendency was" for the ear to decrease in size as compared with the size of the bodv.
