CANCER.

DR DYE’S EXPERIMENTS

TWO INTERESTING VIE AYS

[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.]

LONDON, January 21

Two interesting views of the GyeBarnard cancer theory have just been published. Sir George Beaston, writing in the “ British Afedical Journal,” suggests the possibility that Air Barnard did not see the cancer microbe, but might have synthetically created new combinations from the materials whereon he played the ultra-violet or X-ra.vs.

Oil the other hand, th.e annual report of tlie British Aledical Research Council says: Dr Gvc and Mr Barnard have transformed our outlook on the problem of the causation, of cancer hy suggesting a filter-passing virus, or ultramicrobe factor, in malignant tumors, which yet are harmless without the adjuvant factor. For the purpose of more rapidly exploiting the possibilities the Council is constructing additional laboratories at tlie Imperial Research Funds Alillhill farm, to which Afr Barnard’s ultra filtration plant lias been transferred from. Hampstead. Dr Gye will supervise part of the Imperial Fund’s research.
