A FIRE
KFAIARA JUNCTION HOTEL BURNT. A fire at 3.30 o’clock this morning completely destroyed (lie Kumara Junction Hotel, opposite the Kumara Junction Railway Station. The fire had a big hold when discovered and the building, a large two storeyed structure, was burnt to the ground. All old piano and some small personal effects were practically all that v.as saved, everything else being completely destroyed. The Kumara Railway Station across the road had a narrow escape being badly scorched and it was necessary to keep throwing water on the building to save it from catching fire, the wind luckily blowing in a different direction. The licensee is Mr Arthur Hill, the property being owned hy Air AV. R. Kettle of Greymonth. and was erected some thirty years ago by tlie late Airs Duckworth. There is an insurance of £6OO on the building in the North British Company.
