WESTLAND BRANCH. The usual monthly General Committee .Meeting of tin- a hove Association was held in the County Chambers at 7 1 1:0 p.m. on January iOth. I!)2(i. The following members were present:— .Messrs Stuart (Chair), Coulson, Gaylor. Williams, Cederman. AlcFarlnnc. Mclntosh, Elcnck, and Turner. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed and the out correspondence was read and approved. Inward correspondence was read as follows: from the general Secretary re the proposed visit from Canterbury motorists and car loading arrangements at Otira.—Received. From same re visit o( Main Highways Hoard.—Received. Accounts amounting to £4 S’s !)d were passed for payment. Moved by Mr Coulson that the- Railway Department he asked to take tne same precautions at all times when trains are proceeding across the Tcreniakau Bridge as they do in foggy weather.—Seconded by Air \\ iUiains and carried. .Moved bv Mr Stuart that.the Secretary and Mr .Mclntosh he a deputation to wait oil the Station -Master awl make satisfactory arrangements tor signalling Lrains approaching the Hokitika Railway Bridge.— Seconded by Mr Coulson and carried. After a discussion on the recent mishaos to cars on the South Westland Highway it was moved by Mr Stuart thill the President and Secretary together', with Messrs Coulson. Mclntosh, and McFnrintio be a deputation to wait on the Main Highways Board on the 2(3th inst., and place before the Hoard the urgent need of bridges over Dry, .MacDonald’s and Shitey Creeks. Seconded by Mr Kleoek and carried. Moved by‘Mr MoFnrlnne that the Conn tv Council’s attention be drawn to the fact that the road reserve at. Oiodricli’s Creek lias been fenced i" null thereby : necessitating motorists parking in the road and so obstructs traffic that may be approaching.--Seconded bv Alt' Coulson and carried. Moved by Air Turner that the Public Works Department be urged to have the Awntuiin-Kumnrn -1 unction and the HoUitikn-Rutatnpu road eompleted at an early date and also that the Borough and County Council lie asked for their co-operation in urging this matter along.— Seconded by AFr Mclntosh and carried. With the usual vote of thanks to the chair the .meeting .concluded.
