IVOOL CONTROL NOT FAVOURED
Australia it N.Z. Cable Association.]
LONDON, Jan. 17. The proposals for wool control were definitely rejected by the Bradford meeting of the British Wool Federation which adopted a resolution that it was undesirable that any attempt should he made to interfere with the wool growers or consumers, and that ample protection, guidance and assistance were always forthcoming. Dies being available through the existing channels and organisations. WOOL SALES.
NAPIER, January 17. The tone of the third Napier wool sale of the season, which commenced on Saturday evening, was in contrast with that- of Die previous sale. Keen competition, spirited bidding, and a good demand for all classes of wools, had taken the place of the slow, dragging sale of a month previously. It appeared now as if prices had becomo fairly stabilised. Bradford made the running, but- help from the Continent made competition. Bradford buyers, in fact, took the bulk of the three catalogues of 8,945 bales out of a total offering at the sale of 25,055. America was in the market, and for super wools suitable for her, there was spirited sale. It appeared as though super wools had regained the ground lost at the previous sale, and prices were up to the opening sale rates. Medium to inferior sorts were sold at slightly in advance of the December rates, whilst the prices for bellies and locks were on a par.
Striking an average, prices were from par to a penny above the December sale rates.
