GERMAN ROYAL CLAIMS. [Reuter Telegrams.] BERLIN, .Tan. 13. Although he renounced his German nationality in 1914 and fought against Germany as a Russian General, Duke Karl Michael of Mecklenburg and Strelitz, received in 1921, 5,000,000 gold marks from the Mecklenburg Government for the renunciation of his claims to the Grand Ducal throne. This was one of the interesting facts revealed before the legal committee of the Reichstag inquiring into the Royal claims. Although the members of the Mecklenburg and Strelitz family have already obtained cash and property valued at 35 million gold marks, they are now claiming a further five millions.
It also appears that the Berlin Court has awarded a pension of six thousand marks yearly to a lady friend of the ex-Grand Duke. GERMAN CABINET C'RfSTS. LONDON, Jan. 14. The Berlin correspondent of the “Times” reports the Reichstag reassembled formally and adjourned to enable the parties to further discuss the Cabinet crisis. A solution is not yet in sight, but the prospects are somewhat improved. The parties appear to be taking the problem more seriously, which, doubtless is due to the peremptory tone of the President’s order, that the business must be cleared up by the fourteenth, otherwise be will appoint his own candidate. All parties are busy. LUTHER. TO FORM CABINET. BERLIN, Jan. 13. Hindenburg has charged Dr Luther with the task ol forming a Cabinet.
