QUEENSLAND’S VOLCANO. BRISBANE, Jan. 12. An investigation of the alleged volcanic activity of Jit. Gregory (called yesterday) showed that the rumbling was caused by large rocks rolling down the mountain side, alter being displaced by heavy rain, and what appeared to be smoke was the ash.es from a bush fire, carried to a great height by a whirlwind. ' J The annual report of the Board for ' the protection of aborigines, tabled in the Assembly discloses that there are 1081 full-blooded aborigines in New South Wales, comprising 628 males and !23 females.
