The large investmeiil of American money in Canadian industries has brought Canadian funds back from a discount to 19) per cent., where they stood in 1920, to a premium, according to the “ Caiiadalii Weekly Trade Review.’' issued by the Press Bureau of 1.1.0 Canadian Pacific Bailway. Tliosp. l investments at present aggregate over three thousand millions, it points out. while British investments only total about two and a half billions. Of a total of 433.1100,OIK) dollars' worth of bonds sold for the year to October 10. 208.000.000 dollars’ worth were sold in the Putted States. 19G.000.000 dollars’ worth in Canada, and only 27,000,000 dollars’ worth in Great Britain. In addition, large sinus nt .American money are being put into Canadian slock. The shipment of gold from New AVirk to .Montreal, it continues, has been the outstanding feature of Canada's recent external trade. The movement, it is understood, is due to a combination of demand for Canadian funds for various purposes. The increased export of Canadian wheat and other products to the United States, and the investment of United States’ funds in the Dominion, tire said to be contributing factors. The export of Canadian wheat direct to the United States during September was 1,081.000 bushels, as against 220,03 G bushels during the same month last year.
