CRIME STATISTICS. MELBOURNE, January 9. Respite the apparent evidences to the contrary. Victorian crime statistics for the past few years show the criminal population is gradually decreasing. Statistics show in 1904 there were 0.54 prisoners to each thousand of the population. In 1924 the total had decreased to 0.47. N.'S.W. UPPER HOUSE. SYDNEY. Jan. 8. The New South Wales Cabinet has decided to introduce a bill this session to abolish the Legislative Council. The members will he allowed to retain the title of “Honourable,” and also their railway and tramway passes for life.
