As n M'nuel to flic murder of Mi William Almeida, Manager of the Hampton (Victoria) branch of the Commercial Rank, on the 28th November, 1021. when the hank was stuck up hv two men. one of whom escaped— Douglas Robertson. 87, described as a skilled labourer, has been arrested at Sydney on suspicion on a charge of murdering Almeida. The hearing was adjourned till to-morrow. Robertson is stated to have come from New Zealand. He has been in Sydney about a month. A man named Perkins. whom Almeida hold at the revolver's point till he was arrested, was sentenced to fifteen yea rs’ impri sonmon t.

The Government will not be abb to appoint any women to the Legislative Council for some months til the Constitution Amendment Bill hareceived the Royal Assent. The chief measure for Parliament when it resumes is the consideration of an Electoral Bill seeking to revert to single seats with the first past the post, system of voting. The Legislative Coitiicilj previously rejected the latter part, substituting preferential voting.
