Tlic Department of Agriculture hns received the following cablegram, dated December 12, from the High Commissioner for Xew Zealand, London:— BTiTTF.It. The market is steadier at reduced prices. Official (|uotations are:— Xew Zealand—Finest salted 172 s to ITUs per cwt (Is GUI to Is ti;Jd per lb); exceptional 178 s per cwt (Is 7d per lb); unsalted to 180 s per cwt (Is fij'd to Is 7.1(1 per lb), other qualities salted 115 s to l(!8s per cwt (Is TUI to Is (id per lb), unsalted Ifißs to 17-ls per cwt (Is (id to Is GUI per lb).
Australian—Salted IBBs to 172 s per cwt (Is fid to Is (Ud per lb), exceptional 171 s per cwt (Is GUI per lhl, unsalted 178 s per cwt (Is 7d per lb); other finalities 158 s to 1 (1-1 s per cwt (Is 4j|d to Is SUI P<?r lb).
Argentine—Unsalted 150 s to 151 s per cwt (Is Id to Is TUI per 110 ; exceptional lulls per cwt (Is 4!{d per lb); other qualities 140 s to 118 s per cwt (Is fid to Is filjd per lb). Siberian—l44s to 154 s per cwt (Is fiJd to Is 4UI per lb), exceptional UiOs per cwt (Is 5d per lb). Danish—l9os to 19(is per cwt (Is Bsd to Is Oil ner lb). CHEESE. The market is steady. English finest farmers’ is unchanged. Canadian —Coloured and white 108 s to 112 s per cwt (lljd to Is per Hi), exceptional Ills per cwt (Is o'|d per Hi). A shipment of Xew Zealand produce arrived this week per s.s. Turakina. ITEM P. The Manila market is dull ami easier. “J” grade January-March shipments are now quoted at sellers £42 10s. The Sisal market is quiet at last quotations. The Xew Zealand market •was quiet at the close. Sellers quote December-February shipments: —High points £39 10s, fair Cfifi. APPLES. Oregon Newton apples are Ids to 18s per bushel ; American Jonathans. Stayman’s Wine sap and Spitzhergeu. 12s to 15s; English Cox’s orange 20s to 40s: Bromleys fis to 8s ; Blenheims fis to 10s. New Wonder 4s to 7s. TALLOW. The spot market is very quiet. Present quotations are:—Mutton, fine 48s (id per cwt, fair to good 43s fid to *Ls per cwt, dark-dull 41s to 41s 9d per cwt. beef, sweet and/or mixed Ifis fid to -Ifis per cwt, fair to good 11s fid to 4fis fid per cwt, dark to dull 40s to 41s per cwt; mixed, fair to good, 41s fid to 43s per cwt. dark to dull 40s to 41s; guts, etc, fi7s to 40s fid pc' cwt. WOOL. There was a pronounced easier tendency at the wool sales this week. Competition less active. Marino is now 5 per cent below last series rates. Crossbred is 5 per cent, to 10 per cent lower.
