A message from Birmingham, Alabama, states an unofficial report was received this afternoon that three men were killed, twelve injured and others (the number unknown) trapped as the result of a gas explosion in a coal mine south of Birmingham. Rescue workers at Birmingham Ik--lieve between 30 and 10 mines, many of whom arc ncoj-nos. arc dead, and others are badly injured.
