SHIPPING TROUBLE
[Australia & N.Z. Cable Association.j LABOUR PARTIES UP*’EUR. (Received this day at 10.2-5 a.m.) SYDNEY, December 11. The Labour Council dismissed the action of the Murine Transport Group, cabled yesterday. A hitter debate followed, when the waterside workers delegate enounced the group would not take any orders from the Labour Council on the deportation issue. The discussion ended in a deadlock between the Council and the group. The Council decided to again ask the group to call a mass meeting of members to protest against the deportation, but there is little likelihood of the request being aeceeded to. TRADES’ HALL COUNCIL. MELBOURNE, December 11. The Trades Hall Council adopted the manifesto prepared by the executive in regard to the question of the deportation and decided to proceed immediately with the taking of a ballot among all Unionists on the questions, Inter alia, —“ Abe you .prepared to stop work for one day as a protest against the continuance of the deportation law.” ft also agreed to suggest that Trades Hall Councils in all States take similar action.
