In connection with the combination of the Transport Unions the' constitution provides for a committee in each State which will control all disputes likely to involve more Ilian otic union within that State. JOB CONTROL. MELBOURNE, December 7. The delay caused in the sailing of the Manuka, constitutes one of the most glaring instances of job control which has occurred for many months. When sailing time arrived, sixteen firemen were missing. Later, all the. firemen, with the exception of one, returned and when it was suggested that another should be signed on in his stead one of his friends declared that he would leave the ship. An official of the company and one of the crew had to engage a taxi and search for him, eventually locating him and returning to the ship. .Meantime other firemen went ashore and had again to he collected from waterfront hotels, before the vessel could sail. SWIM .MING BATH STAGING COLLAPSES. .MELBOURNE, December 7. During the swimming carnival at St. Ivilda, the staging in the woman’s baths collapsed, precipitating eighty people into the water. One girl was seriously injured and many others slightly. WILFUL MURDER. BRISBANE, December 7. The two men arrested in connection with tbe killing of Weedon (cabled on Saturday) are his sons, the younger of whom has been charged with' wilful murder. SENATE VACANCIES FILLED. SYDNEY, December 7. The vacancy in the Senate for New South Wales has been tilled by Mr Massey Greene, who was re-elected. Senator Pearce was also re-elected for Wcstralia. PRAYERS FOR RAIN. HOBART, December 7. Prayers Tor rain were offered in the churches in the Devonport district, where the position is acute, owing to the prolonged draught, all crops being threatened with complete failure. SYDNEY, December 8. At the elections, Thomas, the fourth Nationalist Senator, has been declared elected. FEDERAL LOAN. .MELBOURNE, December 8. Air Page announced the Loan Council are floating a loan of five millions at par. at five and a quarter per cent.
