Wool prices further declined at l lie opening of the second Napier sale tonight. when 10.000 bales were catalogued and 1,812 were submitted. Ibe wool was nol up to ibe standard of Unit at Hie November sale, not being as light in condition, and showing grease. The bidding at times was erratic, and at no period ol the sale did ii appear as if there were any stability in the market. It was noticeable that Bradford buyers were more in evidence. Hie drop in the murkkef apparently being more in keeping with their limits. However, the Continent took the hulk of the ottering, /.ittie wool suitable for America was offering, anil what there was showed a decided drop. Super wools dropped. compared with the opening sale. anything from twopence halfpenny to threepence per pound. Average crossbred wools were down two pence: inferior crossbred threepence: crutchiiigs, thi'oehalfpence. and pieces ami hollies were par to a tmli'pemiv down. The body of an elderly man, n swagger. was found in the riverbed at Xgawapunia to-day by two anglers. Kvideullv it was in the water tor some time, being decomposed. It- was identified as that of a man who said be crossed tlie river on November 9tl[, when he went to Oete Station. It is assumed he met his death in re-cross-ing the river later in the day. Ilis mime is at present unknown. THEFT OF CIGARETTES. WELLINGTON. December 7. Some time between noon on Saturday and (5.M1) on Monday morning burglars entered the ware-house of A\ . D. aud‘ II (). Wills. Lid., and made oft with 10!,.tOO cigarettes valued at £3OO. Entrance seetns to have been effected very cleverly and no trace appears to have been left which will lead to detection. Eighteen months ago this factory was burglariously entered and about thirty-two thousand cigarettes stolen.
