WEST COAST BOWLING CENTRE.

THURSDAY, DEC. 3rd

A special meeting of delegates of the West Coast Bowling Centre was held at S p.tn. at Groymoutli. Present ; Messrs J. Bing (Chairman), ,J. Bose (Westfort), W. Bowes (Runanga), A. K. Benjamin (Hokitika), and D. McKay (lion. see). Hecftou were not represented.

The Chairman stated the meeting had been called to consider the arrangements to he made in connection with tho English howling team’s visit to Ureymoutli and Westport. A considerable amount of correspondence was read in connection with the visit, the latest statement showing that the party would consist of oi ladies and gentlemen. The parLy would arrive from Christchurch at Grcymduth on Saturday, .lan. HO tit. stay over Sunday. 31 st. and play at Greymouth on Monday, Feb. Ist., leaving for Westport on Tuesday. Ich. 2nd., playing there on Wednesday, Fob. 3rd., and leaving West port for Xelson on Thursday. Feb. -Ith. It was stated that the number of rinks to play at Groymouth and Westport was not definitely fixed. The oorrcspoiiciciiec read was rc--eived and a general discussion followed. Air Beniamin then moved that the Greymouth and AVestport Clubs lie asked to arrange for the visit of the British Bowlers to their respective towns, the Chairman and Secretary of the Centre to he ex-officio members of each committee, and that the Clubs mentioned make all the necessary arrangements in connection with the visit. Seconded by Air Bowes and carried. Mr Rose moved that in the event of eight rinks being played at Greymouth the Committee he asked to arrange for the distribution of rinks as follows: Greymouth four, Hokitika two, Runmitra two. Seconded by Air Bowes and carried. It was understood that in the event of a lesser number of rinks being played, that the number of rinks lie reduced in such proportion a.s was considered ad', Cable.

It was further resolved that in the event ol eight rinks being played at Westport that the Committee he asked to arrange for the inclusion of two rinks from Reeftoti, if possible, and that provision he made for the inclusion of the Chairman of ihe Centre in a rink. Mr Beniamin moved that £lO he voted to each Committee towards the' cost of entertaining the visitors. Seconded by Air Bowes and carried. It being advised that ii was a usual course to present Centre badges to the •, isitors. the Chairman and Secretary were authorised to procure 100 badges of an approved design. The matter of the general arrangements was discussed fully, and ihe '"nail-man and Secretary were depute to meet the <ommitfce of the Greyinoiitli {lull ami give lull particulars of the position, Air Rose to net in a similar nature to Hie Westport Club. OTHER .MATTERS. The Chairman advised that after considerable delay the certificates ordered for winners ol rink and pairs competitions at the annual tournaments had come to hand and those wen at the last tournament had been completed, and -cut on to tile respective winners. The Secretary reported that there lmd teen a delay in replying to an enquiry as to the certificates, owing to these being expected to come to hand every day. and lie had hoped !o have lean able to send the certificates before, hut the makers had not given delivery at the time promised, and so a misunderstanding had arisen.

Mr Ipse reported that the programme hr the annual West Coast Bawling; Tournament. which takes pia'c at AYeM port on Feb. Bib. 9th. Itltli. and I Itli.. would he distributed to Clubs during the present week. Entries from West Coast {dubs would dose on Dec. Hist, and any deficiency to make up to 20 rinks would then he life red to outside Clubs to till up the required number. The Chairman reported tlmt the financial position showed there was £.lB 11s Od in hand, with a liability of C2o. while badges would require about £l2 10s, leaving £2l Is available. The £2O voted for entertainment was therefore practically the whole aim tint available. Mr Bowes stated that the elements were again unfavourable for the opening of the Runanga Club and it would have to he further postponed from next Saturday. Alemhers expressed their sympathy with the Club in the matter.

The Chairman in closing the meeting expressed his regret that such a very rough night had been experienced for their meeting, hut stated it was satisfactory to have been able to meet and clear up a number of matters affecting Llie tour, as had been done. A vote of thanks to the ('liairman for presiding, terminated the meeting at 10.30 p.m.
