Heavy rain during the past twelve hours has caused the rivers to he in heavy flood and damaged approaches to bridges have disorganised railway traffic. There are no trains to and from Otira to-day owing to the line by Kotuku being under water and wash-outs Tie Reeftou line is also unavailable till tins afternoon owing to the floods.
Road traffic is also suspended through damage to bridges. Heavy damage is reported on the Arthur’s Pass side of the .mountains.
