MAN IN FLY-WHEEL.
PALMERSTON NORTH, Dee. 2. At live o'clock this morning, Mr B. Stevens, a farmem of Pohangina, escaped death by a miracle of chalice. Air Stevens had started the engine in his shed to prepare for shearing. He was wearing a raincoat'. 'lbis became entangled in the tly-wheol and he remembered nothing hut a jerk and sensation of choking. 'I he shearers jumped to his assistance. and found him twisted 'tightly <m the engine and unconscious. It is unknown how many time he was turned on the wheel, which makes .180 revolutions per minute, hut his hoot evidently broke the sparking plug in its rapid passing, so that the engine was stopped. Otherwise nothing could have saved him. Tho. doctor found that he had a dislocated shoulder and was badly bruised on the arm and chest.
