At a deputation to the Prune .Minister this morning, it was mentioned that the Christchurch Tramway Board is in difficulties, and that probably a levy will have to he made. At present the Government lias signed a contract with the Christchurch City Council lor its supply of electric power from Lake Coleridge, and it proposes to sign a similar contract for power from the same soiirte with the Christchurch Tramway Board. The Christchurch City Council wishes to supply the Tramway Board with electric power, maintaining that the bigger the city Iliad, the better will l>c the rates for Ibe ratepayers, and therefore the greater the benefit to everyone. The subject was discussed with Mr Coates by a deputation from the City Council and the Tramway Hoard, hut no definite decision was arrived al. The facts were placed before Mr Coates, and l:o ((ill di-eils- iheni with his officers.

Pleading guilty to charges of driving a motor-car while intoxicated, driving recklessly, converting the car to his own use and without right, and failing to report an accident. Laurence Albert Mining, n mechanic*, aged 29, was committed for sentence this morning. ITis companion. Donald Lloyd Tonwscnd, aged 31. was fined C2 for drunkenness. The police evidence* showed that the ear knocked over a hoy cyclist and carried him one hundred yards and later collided with a lorry. MOTOR ACCIDENT. THAMES. Dec. 3. Yesterday afternoon Frederick Epps, aged 46, was riding on the county road when a motor ear. apparently out of control smashed into him. Epps was hospitaller! with a broken pelvis and other injuries, his condition lieing serious.
