A half-caste, Jack Manfel Wilson, a labourer at Mammiii. was charged at the Supreme Court with assaulting and robbing .lack Gooditll. at Whangaporeta. near Manumii. on August Ith. The evidence showed the parties were employed at a bu-li camp and attended a gambling --hool. Wil-on 10-t his cash, lint Gnodall won a fairly large stun, including a new £|l> note. The accused approached Goodall for a loan, hut the hitter put him oil'. Early the next meriting Goodall went, to the stable to attend to his h.crse, when he was violently struck and rendered unconscious. On coming to lie found lie had been robbed ol most of the previous night’s winnings. Subsequently lie ascertained that Wilson had cashed the CIO note. A verdict of guilty was returned. The prisoner has a had record. Sentence was deferred. NEW PLYMOUTH SENTENCES. NEW PLYMOUTH. Nov. 25. At the Supreme Court William Kerr, ex-manager of the Union Bank at Stratford, pleaded guiltv to fifty-four charges of theft, forgery and falsifying the hooks and he was found guilty of obtaining C3OO by false pretences from 11. W. Barlow. A sentence of three years’ hard labour was imposed. Leslie Cranston McCormick, aged 17. pleaded guilty to seven charges of indecent assault on hoys and was sentenced to five years detention at the Borstal Institute.
