'There was a conference of the strikers and owners to-day. it again adjourned after two hours’ discussion, without a settlement being reached. SYDNEY. November 24. At the conference of the owners and strikers, the former 'submitted certain terms for a settlement of the dispute, hut a general meeting of the ■seamen rejected them. THE DEPORTATIONS. SYDNEY, November 24. A stop-work meeting of the Sydney Branch of the Seamen’s Union was tittended by fifteen hundred members. The meeting decided that if Tom Walsh and Johnson are deported, the seamen will declare “ black ” every British ship in Australian waters. The resolution would require the support of the AVatersiders’ Federation hut tiie seamen consider that to prevent the deportation, the watersiders would consent to this plan. The Sydney Branch of tiie Watorsidot'.s’ Federation meets to-morrow. .MELBOURNE, November 24. A meeting of the Victorian Branch of tiie Seamen’s Union decided that in the event of the High Court deciding against Walsh and Johnson, tt special stop-work meeting he called to consider what action should he tnkewSYDNEY, November 24. The seamen decided not to take any drasticaction at present in regard to showing their disapproval of tiie deportation of Walsh and Johnson. A motion that delegates lie appointed to wait upon the Trades and Labour Council with a view to ascertaining what assistance would he forthcoming in the event of a strike being declared, was carried unanimously.
