BOY SCOUTS.

(Contributed.) Inc rather threatening weather last

Saturday morning led to anxiety on the part of both, the local troops, and in the end to several scouts and cubs being kept at home who might otherwise have had an outing of considerable interest;' The First Hokitika Troop had an all day trip to Lake Mahinaptia and seem to have made the best of a rather cold and windy day, while the Second Hokitika Pack held

the first Wolf Cub camp of the season at South Spit. A doj’.en cubs spent the night in camp and returned home in time for their respective religious duties on Sunday after an exceedingly busy and thoroughly happy week-end, and those who have joined the Pack since the last camping season proved themselves thoroughly promising young campers. As soon as the schools close, the Second Hokitika intend to revisit their favourite camp site at Awatuna where a five-day Wolf Cub camp will be held, as well as a camp for scouts, specially intended as a preparation for the visit to the Jamboree at Dunedin. The Second Pack of Wolf Cubs have been Imsv at their tests and the following have been gained during the last week or two: —Sixer, Richard Speed ; Collector’s Badge, Second Douglas Spence and Cub William A'oale have each gained their Second Star, while in the Second Troop of Scouts, Patrol Leader R. Bone lias gained his Cyclist Badge. All those going to the Jamboree from Hokitika are expected to complete their Second Class Tests during the next two weeks. The Saturday and Friday meetings of the Second 'Troop will he specially used "for this purpose.
