The community of the Woodstock district, Well known for their solidarity and enterprise, have distinguished themselves again by erecting a very fine hall for the enjoyment of the social amenities for which the locality has been notable.- The hall will give gieater scope, and the promoters have planned well with a full and complete knowledge of local rcquiicments. When the new hall was mooted the proposal was taken up very enthusiastically and in a very short time for the expenditure of between £SOO and £GOO, the township possesses a building any centre might he proud of. Ihe cost mentioned is the hare minimum outlay, and does not include the gifts and gratuitous work done by local enthusiasts who have worked whole lienrtedly for the success of the venture. On Saturday a representative of the “Guardian” had the of inspecting the new building which is a striking addition in the centre of the township, being on the main road, opposite the post office store of Molls Bros. The main structure is a building of 60x40, with a lean-to the full length an additional ten leet wide for entrance portal, dressing rooms, and other conveniences. The building is well and faithfully built of wood and iron .and is lined, and wcU-eonvenienc-•cd and painted throughout. It is thus complete and exceedingly well equipped. The main building has a stage and proecnimn. with a drop scene. The latter, as. also the ornamentation of the proscenium, were painted by Mr j. f,. Monzies. The interior is lined with beaver-board, well ventilated and lighted, and painted in tones restful t<7the- eye. The lighting of the hall for night is supplied by three brilliant benzine lamps, seating is provided round the hall, and other seats are being provided tor concert entertainments.
At the entrance portal there is an office and pay box conveniently arranged. and behind that the dressing room for gents. Next comes a very convenient servory well equipped with all requirements for heating water, ms well as a useful wash-up bench. Toe
Indies’ room is adjoining and is complete in itself. The whole arrangement, of these necessary adjuncts is most satisfactory. \ good piano has keen secured to* the kail, and is part of the property, which is owned by the subscribers towards the Hall Company. There is certainly good value in the building itself, which is well and taillilulK built, and which possesses an excellent floor, a certain asset to make dancing in the building very popular. A Halt Committee of which Mr E. A. Molls is Chairman and Mr It. C. Wells. Serveturv, deserve every credit lor the success of the efforts to provide the building.
