WESTLAND POLL.
It- appears to ho definitely certain that there will he some pronouncement to-day as to the official state of the Westland poll. The official count has been in progress for the past two days. Up to last night’s work about 1)001) ot the votes polled at the booths throughout West-laml. had liecn handled. There arc about 2000 more to taunt to-day. and these should he out f hand during the afternoon. There then remains .some 320 absent- votes to count which have been passed as in order. Some absent votes have been rejected owing to ineligibility of the voter. There are three of the absent votes still incomplete, the declaration not having been received. These may be cleared up at any time now. It may be expected, therefore, that the count as far as it can be completed to-night- will include the absent votes, and the figures are expected to make plain the actual result of the election. The Retnrnieng Officer stated shortly before noon to-day that lie hoped to To able to make an announcement to-night about 7 o’clock.
