SITUATION STILL SERIOUS. _ DAMASCUS, November 8. The town of Damascus ' itself is quiet, hut the situation is still serious. There are organised hands around Damascus and they remain a menace. The people in the Moslem quarter appear dazed and sullen.' North of Damascus French jurisdiction outside the towns, is practically non-existant.
French reinforcements are hourly expected. This is having a reassuring effect.
