FIRST DAY’S RESULTS
CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 8
The Canterbury Jockey Club’s metropolitan meeting opened to-day in cloudy weather, with a keen wind blowing. Rain fell overnight, but it had no effect on the course, which was in excellent order. There, was a large attendance. The total isator investments were £02,018 compared with £OB.-161 on the opening day last year.

A DISQUALIFICATION. AUCKLAND, Nov. 8. Arising out of an incident in the Hunters’ Steeplechase yesterday. E. Gopestake, rider of Roller, was disqualified for twelve months for deliberately running Bahadur off at one of the obstacles.
General Pryde was fatally injured in his fall in the Flying Handicap. AYiggins, his rider, was removed to the hospital, but after treatment for abrasions, was able to proceed liome to-day.
