GENERAL SARRAIL’S REPORT. PARIS, November 4
An official account of the events in Damascus, issued by tbe Foreign Office and based on a report from General Sarrai., says that two bands on 18th October entered Chagour-Medan quarters and overwhelmed the police. 'Their numbers wore swollen by looters. The French established a barrage round the European quarter. The insurgents surrendered on 20th October. The measures to suppress the revolt were most moderate compared with the extent of the move incut. No European civilian was killed or wounded. The French losses were 10 killed and 30 wounded including three French and two rebels, who were massacred. The rebels had two hundred killed. .Material damage was limited to the native area. No Arab buildings of architectural or historical interest were affected.
