A DEYEI.OPAIENT. PERTH, November 4

A significant development in the shipping strike at Fremantle occurred when a pilot launch, manned by Australian seamen, put oft to the Orsota and landed the pilot, who took her to an anchorage. Hitherto, the pilot tug crew had refused such service in the ease of shins held up.

The Australian seamen, at a meeting, passed a vote of no-confidence in Houghton, who is alleged to have been tbe instigator of most of the trouble on the waterfront recently. A feature of the meeting was the announcement by the Knroola seamen that Houghton bad received a message from tbe Eastern States advising him in no circumstances to permit the Knroola to lie held up. That message was suppressed by him. When taxed with the matter Houghton said he put the telegram in his pocket unread and forgot about it. About 100 seamen from tbc Orsova, alter agreeing to resume duty, unexpectedly left tbe vessel.

Tbc authorities have now detormined to cause the removal of hold-up vessels, and, in the event of captains refusing to leave the wharf, all police protection will be withdrawn. BRISBANE, Nov. 5.

The Queensland Trades and Labour Council have carried a motion repudiating the new Premier, Air McCormack, considering that he is not a fit and proper person to continue in office m view of an anti-working class attitude being adopted by him in the present shipping strike. PERTH. Nov. •>.

A meeting of the members of the crews of overseas vessels decided almost. unanimously to accept tcnns o settlement offered by the owners.
