DEMON STR ATI ON AT AUCKLAND AUCKLAND, November 5.
Yesterday afternoon about thirty striking seamen left behind from their ships made a demonstration outside the polling booth at Queen’s wharf, after a march from the Trades Hall carrying a red Hag. One of the strikers spoke, attacking the Government in connection with the strike, hut they were persuaded by a policeman to disperse. The strikers then made a demonstration alongside the Corinthie which resulted in one of them being arrested.
To prevent further trouble the wharf gates were closed last night.
SHIPS SAILING. SYDNEY, November 5. The Ceramic sailed with a lull crew, BRISBANE, November 5. The Government has suspended 12 rnilwa.vmen at Bowen wharves on a charge of refusing to truck coal to the wharves. The railwaymcn called a stop-work meeting for to-day at which it is expected a decision will he reached that all rnilwavnieii shall cease work.
The Premier stated there would lie no turning so far ns the Government was concerned. The Government was not going P’ he dictated to by a body which set itself against the Govern-, inent’s authority.

The Orsova and Portia sailed with skeleton crews. The Apolda sailed from fluiilmry with a full crew.
MR TOM AVA LSI!. LONDON, Nov. 5. Concerning the siiggeslioii that Tom AValsh proposed to come to liritsin to establish another Seamen’s Union in alliance with the Australian Union, both Air Havelock Wilson's Union and tbjo Amalgamated Afarine Workers’ Union regard the proposal with indifference. They point out that their unions embrace eightv percent ol the maritime workers ot Britain : therelore. obviously there is no room for another union.
